Senior Portraits

I love to photograph senior sessions.  It's such an exciting time of life to be at the end of adolescence and at the brink of lots of opportunity.  I think about my senior pictures and can't imagine if I had pictures like this of me at that time (both scary and fun:).  My pictures were briefly taken in a studio and then by a tree outside of my high school.  The picture quality was great for sure but not a personal session capturing genuine smiles or laughter or anything that was significant to me.  Photography has changed so much since then and part of that has been the senior picture experience. I've been behind in posting on the blog but I thought it would be worth posting a few images from the most recent senior picture sessions.  I taught high school for 7 years and was reminded of how much I enjoyed getting to know the students through these sessions.  Thank you guys for all being willing to smile and endure awkwardness for a little while in order to get an accurate and beautiful picture of this time in your lives.  Can't wait to see where you go these next few years...

Daily Life//Babies + Toddlers

I decided about a year ago to shoot weddings/engagements and not family or babies or kiddos, but sometimes when friends have babies I do pull out the camera and take some of these little nuggets.  At our small church we had 3 babies born on the same day, and 2 of them within minutes of each other.  I have had the opportunity to love and hold each of these babies (baby Gus, Lucy, and Jeff:).  I took pictures of baby Gus and his big brother, Vincent, at their house.  They share an awesome room that Emily designed/decorated with fun robots and cute Ikea touches.  Here are a few of these two little guys...

Gus' face in this picture below kinda cracks me up.  Love some 6 week old baby faces!

This photo below isn't necessarily an awesome shot in terms of the photography but I love it because of Gus' long look at his mommy's face.  That is so much of what you see when they are babies- they can't hold their head up or do much but they do stare at their mommy's face a lot.  It is one of the most precious memories I have of Ethan and Andy.  I love how they study the face that carried them for so many weeks as if they know that this is the one that has given them life.

okay, Vincent looks like one of the most adorable kids ever (see picture for proof).  He's going to break some hearts on the playground.

I also took a few pictures of baby Lucy and her mom, Kristy.  Here is one of mom and baby (those are always my favorite!)

and finally just a few of my little guys... Ethan was cracking me up with his faces.  These are blown up big in our house and everytime Ethan looks at them he tries to make the same faces.  He is an awesome little guy!

here is little Putza (aka Andy).  We have been calling him Putz/Putsie/Putza for most of his life and I'm not sure if knows his real name is Andy.  Here he is, drool and all.

My heart has grown five times its normal size since having children, and I feel more deeply than I have ever before because of them.  Children really are a blessing.  Lots of times a heavy and hard blessing, but a blessing for sure.

Caroline + Andy//Shiny Happy People in Athens

2 places most Athenians love: Jittery Joes and Vision Video.  While the era of video stores like Blockbuster are over, there is still a loyal line of customers that frequent the different Vision Video locations in Athens, including Caroline and Andy.  Originally Caroline thought they would want engagement pictures taken by a local river, but after thinking about it Caroline and Andy both thought it would be more fitting to have pictures taken at their favorite Athens spots.  I love that idea since it makes it more personal and reflective of them as a couple.  And some day when they look back at these hopefully it bring back good memories of this time in their lives!

Caroline and Andy have a deep LOVE for the show "How I Met Your Mother" and have seen every season multiple times.  I haven't ever seen it but am now determined to rent it ASAP!

We did travel over to a more rural spot for pictures of the two love birds outdoors with some of their favorite books, Andy's awesome guitar, and some other fun props.  These two had such great ideas that I took SO many pictures- but here are just a few from our outdoor adventure...

I think these next two pictures are the sweetest- Caroline and Andy were holding hands, walking, and then they started goofing around when this moment happened- I kind of think they need to be in a romantic comedy together!!!

The sunset was incredible, and even though it was pretty dark for pictures these two were still being way too photogenic, so I had to keep shooting! But right when I was about to put my camera down, Andy does this incredible dip with Caroline and she goes ALL OUT with it- best and most genuine and most romantic dip ever!!! She was pretty close to touching the ground.  Again the directors are calling... you guys are ROM COM material!

I should mention what great vision these two have for photography and style- Caroline loves photographs and has taken some fun ones on her iphone of her engagement rings in random places so I had to include her pictures in this post (see below!) Thanks you two for being so fun, so in love, and for having great ideas!!
