How many weddings have you photographed?

collections-17.jpg

My photography business began in 2010, and since that time I have photographed over 150 weddings. I LOVE photographing weddings and decided in late 2011 to narrow my photography to just engagement sessions and weddings with occasional senior portraits. I can honestly say that with each wedding I photograph I learn something new, a better way of doing my job, and find that experience in the photography field is priceless.

Do you take traditional wedding photographs of family and not just candids?

FOR SURE! My dad was a wedding photographer when I was younger and instilled in me the importance of classic wedding photographs of family, friends, and of course the bride and groom. Feel free to check out my client gallery to see FULL galleries of entire wedding day images to get an idea of what images I make sure to get. I love the art of photography, so the images I post on my site feature the personality and style of the day, but I completely believe in getting great portraits of you and your family.

What should I wear to my portrait session?

I wrote a blog post with a wedding and event stylist (Molly McKinley- she's amazing!) full of suggestions and pictures on what to wear- click here to read it!  In general I tell people to wear outfits that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy. Layering clothes looks great, so add a few accessories and colors to make a stand out outfit.

Where are you located? Do you travel?

My business is based in Athens, GA, although this year I've been blessed to photograph weddings in New York City, Nashville, Orlando, Orange County, Hilton Head and small towns you've never heard of.  I primarily photograph weddings in the Athens, Atlanta, and Augusta areas, but I do love to travel.  Travel fees include airfare and lodging expenses, but if it's a lovely beach location we might just need to work something else out:)

What is your style?

I love taking pictures that capture emotion, that have soul. I am waiting for Mom to wipe a tear or Grandma to hug you before you walk down the aisle. I love genuine expressions of laughter and fun, and my goal is to really capture your personality whatever it might be. On wedding days I am looking for beautiful light and simple surrounding for portraits, and I interact with the couple to draw them out so they can feel more comfortable and themselves in front of the lens. I love color, but am also sold on the the timeless quality of black and white. I'm also a huge fan of polaroids and experimenting with older cameras and lenses, so you might see me carrying a few cameras just for fun...

What do you really want for Christmas?

A blue vespa. I have wanted one since I visited Italy when I was 15. I would like it to be tiffany blue (but am open to orange, too). I would also like an awesome helmet. I know it can be dangerous, so I can wait until I move to a small retirement community at age 55. Please feel free to email me if you are giving one away.
